The Page 99 Test

While recovering from jet lag, I read a new entry on The Page 99 Test blog about Marc A. VanOverbeke's new book Playing the Game: How State Colleges Used Athletics to Expand Educational Opportunity. Amidst the ongoing soccer World Cup, this is a timely blog about the role of sports in American public universities.

Marshal Zeringue runs several fascinating websites devoted to book reading. These include Campaign for the American Reader, Writers Read, The Page 69 Test, and The Page 99 Test. Writers Read invites authors of new books to share books they happen to be reading at the time. The Page 99 Test invites book authors to discuss what they write about on p. 99 of their new books. The idea is based on the following statement attributed to Ford Madox Ford and displayed at the top of the website: "Open the book to page ninety-nine and read, and the quality of the whole will be revealed to you." --Ford Madox Ford

Over the years, I had the honor of being invited to discuss the contents of my new books on The Page 99 Test and to share books I was reading on Writers Read. These are so scattered I had difficulty finding them myself. I thought I'd list the information here for easy reference:
